Changes are taking place in the school's canteen following a menu review in 2011 that was initiated by the P&C.
The P&C has a mandate to promote healthy eating patterns consistent with values taught in the school's PDHPE and Food Technology nutrition syllabuses.
To achieve this aim we are equipping the canteen to prepare and bake wholesome fresh nutritional food. We are in the process of deleting foods which are low in nutritional value, containing preservatives, artificial colourings, flavouringand sweeteners. We have also reduced prices in our healthy food range by up to 40%.
This is a new direction for the canteen and low prices will impact on profits for the P&C however we feel that this is an area where profit is not the primary aim thus bringing a major change in CHHS P&C financial objectives.
The canteen has paid supervisors but to keep the canteen prices low and affordable for all students we need your time as volunteers and with your help the canteen will achieve the best results for CHHS's good health with good food.
