At Castle Hill High School the study of Technology Mandatory Years 7 - 8 provides students with opportunities to engage in a diverse range of creative and practical experiences in many areas. Students are able to change every term, approximately 10 weeks, studying subjects across many practical fields.
In year 7 students experience the areas of woodwork, textiles and food. While in year 8 students have the opportunity to try metal, textiles and design, graphics and sports food.
We aim to provide a range of practical experiences that occupy the majority of course time. Practical experiences develop knowledge and understanding of and skills in designing, producing and evaluating. Student capability, confidence and expertise at their current stage of development are important considerations in determining the teaching and learning sequences in the course.
Each focus area provides opportunities for students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to that field and associated industries.
